Controversial University of Colorado professor Ward Churchill is appealing the school's decision to fire him for academic misconduct.
Churchill doesn't think his appeal will be successful. It could take several months for the confidential review to be complete.
But when he is officially fired, he plans to sue the university. He says the decision to fire him is based on retaliation for remarks he made about the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Controversy over the remarks led a CU pane to investigate Churchill. It found that he was guilty of misrepresenting research and plagiarism. The panel did not look into Churchill's alleged Indian heritage.
