Controversial University of Colorado professor Ward Churchill is objecting to the school's plans to investigate his alleged Indian heritage, his lawyer said in a letter.
"Do you wish to employ the Nazi standard for racial purity?" the lawyer wrote, according to The Denver Post. "Do you wish to employ the standard adopted by the United States government for determining Japanese ancestry in order to qualify for internment?"
According to news reports, Churchill has claimed Cherokee, Creek, United Keetowah Band, Cree and Metis ancestry. He is not an enrollment member in a federally recognized tribes although at one time he had an associate membership with UKB that was not based on any actual Cherokee blood.
In the letter, the lawyer asked for the complaint against Churchill to be dismissed.
