Two police officers who were last seen with a Native teen days before he was found dead have been declared "unsuitable for police service."
Larry Hartwig and Brad Senger were fired after a government inquiry linked them to the death of Neil Stonechild. The officers had Stonechild in custody the night he went missing in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, in November 1990.
Several days later, Stonechild's body was found on the outskirts of town. His body had marks that were "likely" caused by police handcuffs, the inquest said.
Hartwig and Senger tried to get their jobs back but were rejected in a 200-page ruling. Further appeals to the Saskatchewan Police Commission are possible.
