Inquiry into Native teen's death shown photos
Thursday, September 18, 2003
The inquiry into the death of a Native teen continued in Saskatchewan on Wednesday. Neil Stonechild, 17, was found frozen to death on the outskirts of Saskatoon in 1990. At the time, police said the death was an accident but photos shown to the inquiry indicate Stonechild was beaten. Two witnesses who saw Stonechild shortly before he died have testified to the inquiry. One said she was never contacted by Saskatoon police about the incident. Another, Jason Roy, said he saw Stonechild in the back of a police car. Police lawyers have tried to discredit his testimony. A therapist who worked with Roy said she used visualization therapy to help him remember what happened that night. Get the Story:
