Pat Mills, the public safety director for the Red Lake Nation of Minnesota, was fired by the tribal council over a used car deal.

Mills traded in a drug enforcement van for a passenger car. He pocketed $995 in the deal, the Native American Press/Ojibwe News reported, citing an audit.

Mills said he had permission to do the trade and put the car in his name. But the tribal council voted unanimously to fire him at a special session last Wednesday.
