About two dozen men from the Red Lake Reservation in northern Minnesota are spending the next few months in China working for a carnival company.

The men, mostly in their 20s and 30s, jumped at the chance to work in China, the head of the tribe's job office said. First, they needed passports -- the Department of Homeland Security refused to accept tribal identification, but relented after being shown a court decision.

The workers are getting paid $1,000 a week and their expenses are being covered. If they say a full six months, they will receive about $26,000

The Murphy Brothers company previously hired 26 tribal members to work at a fair in Oklahoma.
