Editorial: Tax hike for scholarships sounds good

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2003 The Farmington Daily-Times in an editorial today says a proposal to raise the Navajo Nation sales tax to raise funds for scholarships "sounds like a great idea" provided the council can distribute the money to those who need it. The paper says a 1-cent increase to the 3-cent tax will help more than 7,000 who need scholarships. The paper says less than half of Navajo high school students received assistance. Get the Story:
