Final meetings set on Navajo tax

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2002 The Navajo Nation is holding two more hearings to address the use of a 3-percent sales tax. The tribe has collected $3 million in the first three months since the tax was implemented but plans to keep 60 to 75 percent of the money. Only those chapters that received Navajo certification receive the full amount. The rest will be distributed to the local chapter governments. Get the Story:
