Increase in Navajo sales tax proposed

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2003 A Navajo Nation council delegate is proposing to increase the tribe's sales tax in order to raise money for college scholarships. The current tax is 3 cents and has brought in $7.5 million in about a year. Delegate Wallace Charley of Shiprock said adding 1 cent will help students. Get the Story:
