Hearings focus on use of Navajo tax

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2002 Public hearings are being held to discuss the use of the Navajo Nation's 3-percent sales tax. The tax went into effect this past April. The tribe's central government is taking most of the money because the local chapters aren't certified under a reform act. The Navajo Nation Budget and Finance Committee is holding two more hearings on the tax: October 14 at the Chinle Chapter House and October 16 at the Crownpoint Chapter House. Get the Story:
