Navajo killer pleads: 'I dont want to die'
Friday, September 5, 2003

A New Mexico convict who faces the death penalty for the murder of a Navajo man pleaded with a jury on Thursday to spare his life.

"I ask you today, God, please don't kill me" Robert Fry said in court, The Farmington Daily Times reported. I dont want to die."

On Wednesday, Fry was found guilty of the April 1998 murder of Donald Tsosie. "There was no damn excuse for what happened to him," Fry reportedly told Tsosie's family in the courtroom.

Fry's friends and family came to his defense and asked the jury to spare his life. Fry is already on death row for the June 2000 murder of Betty Lee, a Navajo mother of five.
