N.M. convict not believable, witnesses in trial say
Wednesday, September 3, 2003

Friends and former associates of a New Mexico convict on trial for the murder of a Navajo man say Robert Fry was prone to telling tales of his alleged exploits.

Fry admitted "rolling an Indian," a witness testified but the witness said he didn't believe anything Fry said. The witness didn't know of the Indian was Donald Tsosie, who was murdered in late March or early April, 1998.

Fry's former fiancee also recalled the incident but said she doesn't think Fry was involved. Her testimony was not exact on this point.

Fry faces the death penalty for Tsosie's murder. He is already on death row for killing and raping Betty Lee, a Navajo mother.
