Trial: N.M. convict 'rolled' Navajo man for money
Friday, August 29, 2003

A New Mexican convict on trial for the murder of a Navajo man used to "roll Indians" after getting drunk, a witness testified on Thursday.

Leslie Engh is a co-defendant in the murder case against Robert Fry. Engh is testifying against Fry, who faces the death penalty for the March-April 1998 killing of Donald Tsosie.

Engh and another witness said Fry targeted Tsosie because it looked like he had money.

Fry, who is white, is already on death row for the June 2000 murder and rape of Betty Lee, a Navajo mother of five.
