Sen. Clinton to campaign on reservations
Thursday, May 22, 2008

Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-New York) will take her presidential campaign to four reservations in South Dakota next week.

Former president Bill Clinton will visit the Crow Creek Sioux Reservation, the Rosebud Sioux Reservation and the Yankton Sioux Reservation on Sunday, May 25. Clinton will visit the Pine Ridge Reservation on Wednesday, May 28.

Most Sioux tribal leaders have endorsed Sen. Barack Obama (D-Illinois). He met with more than 50 tribal leaders last Friday, May 16, in Sioux Falls.

Native Americans make up 8.6 percent of the population in South Dakota and overwhelmingly vote Democratic in national elections. The primary takes place June 3.
