The Native Voice, the independent Native newspaper based in Colorado, is on the campaign trail with Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama (D-Illinois).

Obama's campaign invited The Native Voice to cover the race as it heads into what many believe will be the final showdown with Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-New York) for the party's nomination. The first dispatch comes from Oregon, where Obama held a rally in Portland on Sunday.

At over 80,000, the crowd surpassed all records set in the 2008 presidential campaign cycle, and was more than double the size of the largest Obama rally to date. Faces of all ages, and a spectrum of races and ethnicities were represented in the record-breaking crowd.

A group of Northwest Coast Native people waved hand drums and made the "O" for "Obama" signs with their hands as they cheered the end of the rally.

The Native Voice is now in Montana to cover more Obama rallies. The Crow Tribe, whose Chairman Carl Venne has endorsed Obama, is hosting a public rally at the Apsáalooke Veterans Park in Crow Agency this afternoon.
