Indian superdelegate backs Obama for president

Laurie Weahkee, the fourth Indian superdelegate, is endorsing Sen. Barack Obama for president.

Weahkee, who is of Zuni, Navajo and Cochiti heritage, said last week that she was undecided. But after Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-New York) lost the North Carolina primary and barely won the Indiana one, Weahkee said it was "clear" that Obama will be the Democratic Party's nominee.

Weahkee also said Obama was a strong supporter of tribal sovereignty. "I think he's really going to fight for Native Americans," Weahkee told the Associated Press.

All three other Indian superdelegates have officially endorsed Obama or have said they support him.
