The Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota went to the polls last November to choose a president but few are satisfied with the result.
John Yellowbird Steele won the election but the Black Hills Sioux Nation Treaty Council and other tribal members want it overturned. They object to the removal of incumbent president Alex White Plume from the ballot after a felony conviction was found on his record.
Steele has ordered a panel to examine the election. But angry tribal members just want to go to the polls again. The treaty council has scheduled a protest on Tuesday to call attention to the issue.
