Activists not giving up on fight over Whiteclay
Native activists and their supporters will continue to lobby the Nebraska Legislature to restrict the sale of alcohol in the town of Whiteclay. Whiteclay is located near the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. Four stores in the town sell millions of cans of beer a year, mainly to tribal members. Critics say Nebraska authorities have failed to enforce state liquor laws in Whiteclay.They want lawmakers to close or reduce the number of stores and to tighten regulation. Get the Story:
