Martin Luther King III failed to turn up for his scheduled visit to the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota on Tuesday.

King planned to tour the reservation and meet tribal families as part of his "Realizing the Dream" tour to draw attention to poverty issues. But he canceled at the last minute, angering American Indian Movement activist Russell Means.

"I think Indian people have been insulted; I think this is a flagrant example of racism," Means told The Rapid City Journal.
