Ousted Meskwaki leader claims election is illegal
Tuesday, October 28, 2003
The ousted chairman of the Meskwaki Tribe of Iowa says he will challenge the latest election.
Alex Walker Jr. and his allies were recalled by voters last week. The Bureau of Indian Affairs has accepted the results of that election.
Homer Bear Jr. and his allies were elected. They say they can get the tribe's casino open by Thanksgiving. The National Indian Gaming Commission still has to conduct an audit.
