Wednesday, October 22, 2003

The Bureau of Indian Affairs will recognize the results of the Meskwaki Tribe's election in which current leader were recalled, KCRG-TV reports.

The top three vote getters were Homer Bear, Jr., Harvey Davenport, Jr., and Wayne Pushetonequa. Tribal members also voted to recall four current council members.

The new leaders will take office November 4. An election to replace the recalled members is likely to take place November 5.
