The chief of the Roseau River First Nation in Manitoba is facing call to resign for comments he made about non-Natives.
Chief Terry Nelson told media organizations last month: "There's only one way to deal with a white man. You either pick up a gun or you stand between him and his money."
Nelson said he supported rail blockades in order to affect the Canadian economy. First Nations have scheduled a national day of protest on June 29.
The Custom Council of the Roseau River First Nation called Nelson's remarks embarrassing. The council voted to recall Nelson and his council but the Department of Indian Affairs said continues to recognize Nelson.
