Indian policy changes opposed

First Nations throughout Canada are united in opposition to proposed changes to federal Indian policy.

The Department of Indian and Northern Affairs unveiled an overhaul of the Indian Act last week. Band leaders boycotted consultation meetings held prior to the announcement because they said the changes would take away their sovereignty.
