Native people in Canada are making more money, becoming better educated and moving to urban areas at high rates, according to recent reports.
An estimated 60 percent of the Indian, Inuit and Metis population lives in cities, Statistics Canada said recently. But 90 percent of government funding goes to reserves.
The urban Native population skyrocketed between 1981 and 2001, according to the most recent report. Employment is up but serious problems like poor health, homelessness, gangs and prostitution remain.
