A judge granted a preliminary injunction against the NCAA to allow the University of North Dakota to continue using its "Fighting Sioux" nickname and logo.
The decision, issued Saturday, means the school can host a playoff football game pending resolution of the lawsuit against the NCAA's mascot policy. Under the policy, schools with hostile and abusive Indian imagery cannot host post-season games.
UND filed suit last month, saying the policy is a breach of contract and violates antitrust laws. No schools are forced to eliminate their Indian mascots, but several have done since the policy was announced last August.
