'Sioux' controversy focus of talk article

FEBRUARY 16, 2001 The controversial "Fighting Sioux" nickname of the University of North Dakota is the subject of a panel discussion on Saturday and a journal article next week. National Indian Education Association President Carole Anne Heart will lead a panel discussion about the nickname tomorrow. The nickname is opposed by most Native American students at the school and tribal leaders. The Chronicle of Higher Education on Monday will publish an article about the nickname dispute but the editor isn't discussing its focus. Get the Story:
