TUESDAY, JUNE 24, 2003

Allen Pinkham, an historian for the Nez Perce Tribe of Idaho, is collaborating on a book that will explain the the tribe's role in the Lewis and Clark expedition.

Pinkham and fellow historian Steven Evans say they want to present an accurate picture and dispel the notion that the encounter was unfriendly. They also don't want to romanticize the two explorers.
