Debate continues over the spelling of the Indian woman who helped explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark.

North Dakota's official spelling is "Sakakawea." But the State Library has decided to go with "Sacagawea," which is more common outside the state.

The Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation also voted to adopt the "Sacagawea" spelling but changed its mind after some elders complained.
