Meskwakis using federal funds to pay attorneys

The Meskwaki Tribe of Iowa is using federal funds to pay law firms, security guards and lobbyists, WHO-TV 13 reports.

The station says wire transfers to and from the tribe's bank account document the money trail. In April, the account balance was $167 million dollars but fell to $141 million in June, shortly after the casino was closed.

According to the station, an audit of the tribe's finances is expected in the next month.
