The Coquille Tribe of Oregon has received a $200,000 grant to fight methampetamine in Coos County.

The money comes from the Department of Justice. The tribe will use $170,000 for the South Coast Interagency Narcotics Team, a local drug task force, to combat meth and substance abuse.

We know that 90 percent of people booked in jail are under the influence of drugs and alcohol," s North Bend Police Chief Steve Scibelli tells KCBY.

The money is being used to buy new equipment for the task force and the tribe's law enforcement.
