The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians plan to hire 950 people as part of the tribe's growing enterprise in North Carolina.

The tribe hired 500 dealers at the Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Resort after a new Class III gaming compact authorized table games. Another 150 positions are open at the facility, The Smoky Mountain Times reported.

The tribe will also be hiring 800 people at a second Class III facility on the reservation, the paper said. Construction on the $110 million casino is expected to start in October.
