The Yurok Tribe of California held a ceremonial groundbreaking on Thursday for a casino and hotel on the reservation.

The casino will feature 125 slot machines and a 60-room hotel. It's scheduled to open in the spring of 2014.

Construction will cost $15 million, according to a solicitation for bids. The tribe is using nearly $10 million from its $27.5 million trust fund settlement to finance the project.
