Seneca Nation seeks to expand HUD loan program

The Seneca Nation is seeking federal approval to expand a home loan program throughout New York and in Pennsylvania.

The expansion of the Section 184 Indian Housing Loan Guarantee Program would enable members of any federally recognized tribes to apply for loans in both states. The Department of Housing and Urban Development has approved similar requests in Arizona, Florida, Minnesota, Michigan, Indiana, Oregon and Wisconsin.

Seneca President Maurice A. John Sr. will discuss his tribe's request at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., this morning at 9am. He will be joined by Tex Hall, the chairman of the Inter Tribal Economic Alliance.
