Upcoming Senate Indian Affairs Committee hearings

The Senate Indian Affairs Committee has schedule three hearings in the coming weeks.

On June 14, this Wednesday, the committee is holding a hearing on S.374, the Tribal Parity Act. The bill would add money to the trust accounts of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe and the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe for damage caused by dams that were built on the Missouri River.

On June 21, the committee will hear testimony on S.480, a bill to recognize six Virginia tribes, and S.437, a bill to set a timetable for the Interior Department to consider recognition of the Grand River Band of Ottawa Indians of Michigan.

On June 26, the committee will hold an oversight hearing on Indian housing programs.

The June 14 and June 21 hearings are scheduled for Room 485 of the Senate Russell Office Building. The room for the June 26 hearing has not been published.
