NAIHC hosts annual legislative conference in DC

The National American Indian Housing Council is holding its 13th annual legislative conference in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday and Thursday.

Tribes will hear from members of Congress, Bush administration officials and Indian housing advocates on Wednesday. Thursday is reserved for visits to Capitol Hill.

Also on Thursday, Marty Shuravloff, the chairman of the NAIHC, will testify at a Senate Indian Affairs Committee on the fiscal year 2008 budget. In the current budget, NAIHC lost its "earmark," forcing the organization to lay off half of its staff.

The conference takes place at the Wyndham Washington Hotel,.
