Native American Church practitioners on the Navajo Nation held a prayer service over the weekend to call for an end to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Families from the reservation joined the service and brought pictures of their sons and daughters who are serving overseas. "People felt better, especially the moms who had their sons in Iraq," organizer Raymond Jones told The Gallup Independent. "They were really thankful that somebody thought of something like this."
Turnout wasn't as large as expected due to rainy weather conditions. Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley Jr. sent a representative to the service.
