Army Sgt. Lucas T. White, a member of the Yakama Nation of Washington, was killed in Iraq on Monday.
White, 28, was doing a routine patrol in Baghdad when his armored vehicle came under fire. An explosive device was involved.
White previously served in Afghanistan. "He loved being in the military," his mother, Julia James Brooks, told The Yakima Herald-Republic.
Burial services will be held on the reservation. White will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery near Washington, D.C. "He's requested to be buried at Arlington, next to all of his brothers who died in combat," his mother said.
