Army Spc. Leslie Horn, an Assiniboine woman from the Fort Belknap Reservation in Montana, was honored on Wednesday with an eagle feather.
Horn comes from a family of veterans. Her grandfather, Gilbert Horn, served in World War II veteran and received a Bronze Star for his efforts in south Asia.
At the ceremony on Wednesday, the elder Horn, a former tribal chairman, presented Leslie Horn with the eagle feather for protection. She is scheduled to go back to Iraq on September 6.
