Federal prosecutors are submitting additional information about former Rep. Bob Ney (R-Ohio) in hopes of getting him a stiffer prison sentence.
Ney pleaded guilty to accepting campaign contributions, meals and other items in exchange for legislative favors for Jack Abramoff's clients. In one instance, he promised to help two Texas tribes reopen their casinos. For this, he received tribal donations and an overseas trip that was partly funded with tribal cash.
Prosecutors are linking Ney to other Abramoff clients, The Washington Post reports. They include two Russian energy executives who who have been linked to former House majority leader Tom DeLay, who resigned amid scrutiny over his ties to Abramoff.
Ney faces at least two years in prison for his crimes.
