One of Rep. Bob Ney's friends might not kill him politically, but Jack Abramoff -- formerly a high-profile Washington lobbyist -- might give him several sleepness nights.

In 2005, Ney -- a St. Clairsville Republican who represents Chillicothe and most of Ross County in the U.S. House -- will appear before the House ethics committee to answer questions about his relationship with Abramoff.

Abramoff and Michael Scanlon, a former public relations executive, are accused of manipulating Native American tribes and walking away with millions of dollars by duping the Tigua tribe into thinking they would get Ney's help to re-open a casino closed in Texas. "
