Tribal members among finalists for higher ed board


Two tribal members are among the finalists for seats on the North Dakota Board of Higher Education.

Cynthia Lindquist Mala is a finalist in the first group. She is former director of the state Indian Affairs Commission and is president of the Little Hoop Community College on the Spirit Lake Sioux Reservation.

Charles Murphy is a finalist in the second group. He is a former chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and a Republican state House candidate.

The board has two openings. The slots will be chosen by Gov. John Hoeven (R).
