Attorneys for imprisoned American Indian Movement activist Leonard Peltier went to court on Thursday to argue for the release of FBI documents they say they have been denied for nearly two decades.
Peltier, convicted for murdering two FBI agents on the Pine Ridge Reservation in 1975, says the FBI is illegally withholding documents. His lawyers filed a Freedom of Information Act request for the information.
A federal judge ordered some, but not all, of the documents to be released. The 1st Circuit Court of Appeals heard arguments over 15 documents and other items of interest.
