The Leonard Peltier Defense Committee has already moved to Indiana to be closer to the federal prison that houses imprisoned American Indian Movement activist Leonard Peltier.
Marquetta Shields and her family are also planning to move to Terre Haute so they can be closer to Peltier. Shields currently lives in Leavenworth, Kansas, where Peltier was housed up until June 30, when he was abruptly moved to the new location without notification.
Shields says she hasn't been able to talk to her father since then because he was placed in solitary confinement. The U.S. Bureau of Prisons moved him because he is a maximum-security inmate and the Leavenworth facility is changing to a medium-security institution.
