Peltier loses reduced sentence appeal

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 12, 2002 The 8th Circuit Court of Appeals today refused to entertain a request by imprisoned American Indian Movement activist Leonard Peltier to reduce his two life sentences for the murder of two FBI agents. A three-judge panel affirmed a lower court ruling against Peltier and said he failed to file his claim on time. Peltier, who has been denied parole repeatedly, is in failing health. His request, if granted, would have freed him from his remaining sentence. Get the Decision:
