California's Peace and Freedom Party nominated imprisoned American Indian Movement activist Leonard Peltier for president instead of independent Ralph Nader.
Nader, who ran on the Green Party ticket in 2000 with Ojibwe activist Winona LaDuke, has been trying to get on the ballot in California. But the Peace and Freedom Party said Peltier's case was more important. Back in March, Peltier won 58 percent of the vote in the party's primary.
Peltier is serving two life terms for the 1975 murders of two FBI agents on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
