The College of William and Mary in Virginia has dropped the use of its "feathers" logo.
The college was placed on the NCAA's list of hostile and abusive mascots. On appeal, the NCAA said the school could keep its generic "Tribe" nickname but could not use the "feathers" logo during post-season tournaments.
In response, W&M officials said they would create a new logo rather than continue to challenge the NCAA. Other schools, like the University of North Dakota and its "Fighting Sioux," have refused to change their mascots.
