NCAA rejects appeal over Bradley 'Braves'

The Bradley University "Braves" will stay on the NCAA's list of hostile and abusive Indian mascots.

A review by the NCAA found that the school's mascot contributes to a negative environment. "At an ever increasing rate of occurrence and volume, Native Americans have expressed their objection to the use of names, terms, imagery and mascots associated with athletic teams," the decision said.

The school dropped its mascot and logo but has kept the "Braves" nickname. The Bradley athletics website [Link] no longer contains information about the mascot and logo.
