The four largest television stations in the Washington, D.C., area have been warned not to use the name "Redskin" in their stories, The Washington Post reports.
George Washington University professor John Banzhaf [Web Site] said he will challenge the stations' broadcast licenses for using the word.
He cited a recent appeals court decision reviving a lawsuit over the team's trademarks.
Activist Suzan Shown Harjo and six other Native Americans want the marks canceled.
The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals on July 15 said plaintiff Mateo Romero, from Cochiti Pueblo in New Mexico, should be allowed to pursue his claims against the Redskins team.
