Navajo panel hears of benefits of Olympic venture

Even though the Navajo Nation lost $2.74 million at the 2002 Winter Olympics, the tribe reaped many benefits, an official said.

The Economic Development Committee was told of many of the positives that came out of the tribe's involvement. Among them: the Discover Navajo Pavilion was featured on NBC's Today Show, tribal members were able to participate in Olympic ceremonies and thousands of tourists learned about Navajo culture.
