Native Hawaiian office established in D.C.
THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2003 The state of Hawaii has opened an Office of Hawaiian Affairs in Washington, D.C., Judy Sarasohn of The Washington Post reports. The office's main goal is lobbying for federal recognition of Native Hawaiians. The Senate Indian Affairs Committee on Tuesday heard testimony on a bill to recognize a Native government.
